Haha no worries Joyce, and thanks! Yep you are correct, separate pencils (Wolff's carbon and Faber Castell graphite).
Yes it was tricky mixing them, had put the carbon on first to build up the dark areas and then used graphite on top to blend out to the lighter areas, and hope that I didn't have to reuse the carbon because it wouldn't stick on top of graphite. Cheers

Beautiful pencil work, Rachel. When you say that you drew this one with Graphite and Carbon pencils, you meant separate, individual graphite and carbon pencils, didn't you? I know that Sanford Prismacolor makes pencils that are a composite of graphite and carbon which they call "Ebony" pencils, but I cannot see how you could have gotten all of the various levels of shading, had you been using one of them. I'm aware that graphite and carbon do not normally mix well if tries to apply one on top of the other, so you definately had to plan ahead where you wanted to use the carbon. However you did it, this is a lovely piece of artwork.
