Just came across this one today after joining DA recently, I am humbled at the quality of your beautiful drawing and can only dream of producing work this good in the future. Fantastic hair and tone throughout, keep up the great work!
Hmmm, that's what I did with this, but it wasn't that easy, had to use the carbon pencils first (I used them to create the dark bits) and then used normal graphite on top of the carbon. If you then decide you want to use more carbon it comes a bit tricky because the carbon will not stick on top of the graphite. Cheers
No problem. My opinion graphite is good for details, but I don't like that the darkest you can go is grey. If I use carbon pencils I normally sharpen them on sandpaper or a sanding block, you can get them really sharp, which is good for detailing, but they go blunt quite quickly, so you need to keep sharpening. Cheers
Hmmm. I'm not sure if I'm much good at drawing realistic hair...but I would say lots of patience and a pencil that is always sharp. Mechanical pencils are good. And draw each stroke starting in the dark area and finishing in the light. That way your line thickness will taper thinner in the highlighted areas. Hope that made sense. That's about all I know about it sorry. Cheers
